Benefits of Taking a Childbirth Class

Picture
A childbirth class can provide you with a great forum to ask lots of questions and can help you make informed decisions about key issues surrounding your baby's birth. Moms may attend by themselves or bring labor partner(s) with them.

A good childbirth class with prepare you for labor, and expand your personal philosophy of birth.  It will lesson your fears and build your confidence in yourself and your body.

Tips:
  • Be wary of childbirth educators who simply present hospital rules.  A good childbirth educator is an advocate who shares all of the information with you to allow you to make your own informed decisions.
  • It might be tempting to attend an intensive day or weekend-long childbirth class, but there are many benefits to a course that meets 4 or more times over the span of a few weeks.  You will have more time to absorb and process the information and get to know other people who are approaching parenthood.
  • Call your educator before signing up for the class to find out what the classes are like and to ensure they are a good "fit" for you and your needs.

TAKE NOTE!  Did you know that one child is killed EVERY TWO WEEKS from fallen furniture or televisions, tens of thousands are injured every year. It could happen to a child you love. They are all preventable. 15 minutes and a few dollars could save every single one of them. Secure your furniture and televisions and insist anyone who has or cares for a child under 10 do the same. http://www.cpsc.gov/library/foia/foia11/os/tipovhttp://www.cpsc.gov/er2011.pdf
